Since we can’t get our bookclub together right now, we’re trying something new – an online book club at Goodreads.com. All are welcome to join us – talk about our current book club picks OR chat about anything else you’re reading.
How do I find the online group?
Visit the Mercer Public Library Online Book Club on Goodreads, then click “Join Group.” You’ll have to sign up for a Goodreads account if you don’t already have one.
Our Mercer Library Goodreads group is set as private, which means that others can see that the group exists but only members can see the discussion posts. You’ll need to answer a simple question to submit your request to join the group. We’ll try to be prompt about approving new members, and once you’re approved you’ll be able to view and post on the discussion boards.
What is Goodreads?
Goodreads is the “world’s largest site for readers and book recommendations.” With a Goodreads account, you can record, rate and review books you’ve read; you can see what books your friends are reading; you can get new book recommendations based on your past reviews; and you can get extra content and giveaways from authors and publishers. You can sign up for a Goodreads account using an email address and password, or you can log in using an existing Google, Facebook, Twitter, or Amazon account.
Please note: The Mercer Library receives no benefits from Goodreads. We’ve chosen this platform because it’s freely available and seems like a good place to discuss books with each other. Goodreads is a social media platform and comes with the usual privacy concerns, particularly if you are connecting your account to another existing account like Amazon, Facebook, Google or Twitter. Please use your best judgement when deciding to participate.
