Block Printing for Teens & Adults
March 9 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
FreeTeens and adults are invited to learn about Block Printing with artist Cedar Nelson in a FREE workshop on Saturday, March 9 at 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Mercer Library.
We will look at the steps needed to create a one-of-a-kind artwork that can be duplicated over and over. Instead of wood or linoleum, we will be using a soft carving material that is easier to carve. Everyone will have the chance to make multiple prints to take home. Cedar was a elementary art teacher for 25 years and has used these materials for a long time, including for her own artwork.
Space in the workshop is limited, so please call the library at 715-476-2366 or email director@mercerpubliclibrary.org to register in advance.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Cedar Nelson’s artistic journey finds its roots on her Ironwood farm, where she raises a small flock of Icelandic sheep. In that relaxed setting, she finds her creative expression deeply influenced by her connection to the natural beauty of the North Woods. She nurtured her artistic curiosity and honed her skills during her career as an art teacher in Illinois and then California. After an early retirement, she returned to the Midwest to continue her creative journey with a new sense of purpose. Since her return, Cedar integrated herself into the vibrant local art scene in Ironwood, Michigan, actively participating in events like the Emberlight Festival, First Fridays, and the Range Art Studio Tour, where her creations captivate fellow artists and art enthusiasts.
ABOUT THE ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM
