Ornamental Grasses for Northwoods Landscapes

This program is the second in the Fall 2024 Iron County UW Extension Horticulture Seminar series. Thursday, October 17 9:30am-11:30am -  - Mercer Public Library, Mercer Landscape use of ornamental grasses has surged in popularity in recent years. There are several species, both native and non-native, that make good choices for landscape use in northern Wisconsin. Fall is a great time to view them in area landscapes and make plans to add them to your yard next season! AA Open Meeting

The "Never Had It So Good" group holds twice-weekly AA meetings at the Mercer Library. Thursday night meetings are an Open Meeting and are held at 7:30 p.m. from May through October and at 7:00 p.m. from November through April. Sunday meetings are an Open Big Book Study and are held at 6:00 p.m. year-round.

Looking for a place to play your acoustic instrument with some friends? Stop in on Monday nights from 7:00pm- 8:45pm with your instrument (guitar, mandolin, fiddle, banjo, what else have you got?) and join a little jam group in the Friends of the Library Meeting Room. We’ll play old time, bluegrass, and folk songs. Bring your instrument, a tuner, and a couple of songs to lead. Three-chord songs are best! Growing Season Recap & Winter Preparation

This program is the third and final in the Fall 2024 Iron County UW Extension Horticulture Seminar series. Thursday, October 24 9:00am-11:00am - Iron County Courthouse, Hurley 1:30pm-3:30pm - Mercer Public Library, Mercer Every growing season brings pests and problems; this growing season was favorable for several foliage diseases and pests like spongy moth, among others. Learn more about plant problems we saw in 2024 and ways to manage them in 2025. Discussion continues with how to prepare yard and garden plantings for winter.
