Elder Benefits office hours with ADRC

Jerri Sokol, Elder Benefit Specialist with the ADRC of the North, will be holding monthly outreach hours at the Mercer Public Library on the first Wednesday of the month at 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The Aging and Disability Resource Center of the North provides information and assistance related to aging or adults living with a disability. Their service area includes Ashland, Bayfield, Iron, Price, and Sawyer Counties as well as members of the Bad River, Lac Courte Oreilles, and Red Cliff tribes. The Elder Benefit Specialist can assist area residents with Medicare open enrollment, Medicare supplemental insurance, SSI, Medical assistance, housing, Food Share, Medicaid, Senior Care prescription drug coverage, medical remedials, and more. She can also help direct you to other ADRC services or other area resources. Anyone interested in these services or other ADRC assistance is welcome to drop in during Jerri’s outreach hours. Memory Mondays: Sharing Mercer’s history

The library is seeking input on how we can help preserve, document, and display our community's history. Join us for "Memory Mondays," an engaging gathering where local history buffs, community enthusiasts, and curious minds come together to share insights stories and ideas about our local history. If you have ideas, you are invited to attend! People with questions or personal projects are also invited to attend, ask questions about the library's services and digitization equipment, and share information. Memory Mondays will be held on the second Monday of the month from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. All are welcome! For more information, call the library at 715-476-2366.

Molly Brown: Hardscrabble to high society – a historical program with Jessica Michna

The Friends of the Mercer Public Library invite you to join us for another riveting performance by Jessica Michna on Sunday, July 14 at 2:00 p.m. Michna has performed at the Mercer Library as Helen Keller, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Katherine Wright, and we are looking forward to her appearance as Molly Brown this summer! Remembered as “The Unsinkable” Molly Brown, the lady was more than a survivor of the Titanic disaster. Gold prospector, gambler, and card shark barely scratches the surface of this brave, dynamic woman of the early 20th century. Learn of Molly's fascinating life and meet some of the interesting characters she met along the way. Jessica Michna founded her company, "First Impressions," in the year 2000 to share her love of theater and history. In 2016, she was awarded the Presidential Service Center’s Distinguished Service award for her riveting portrayals of First Ladies. While she has appeared before a wide range of audiences, including appearances at the National Churchill Museum, the Lincoln Boyhood Home National Site, and Valley Forge, Jessica is particularly fond of performing for senior groups and communities.
