Mercer, WI – The Friends of the Mercer Public Library are proud to announce the start of their annual membership drive, beginning May 1, 2026.
Anyone who makes a donation, no matter the amount, is considered a member of the Friends and helps support the library’s vital programs and services. Whether you’re renewing your membership or joining for the first time, your contribution makes a lasting impact.
While the Town of Mercer and Iron County provide essential funding for the library’s operations, the Friends support nearly all public programming, along with important purchases and improvements for visitors of all ages.
In the past year alone, Friends of the Library support included:
- · $3,088 for summer programs reaching over 300 participants
- · $3,750 to continue the Artist in Residence program
- · $2,573 for a new wide format laminator
- · $6,000 to launch a new author series in 2026
- · $773 for reusable library bags
- · $379 for a felt storyboard for children’s story hour
- · $265 toward Historical Society display signage supporting local history walks and talks
The Friends also sponsored a variety of popular classes and presentations, including cooking classes, a tie dye party, live performances, and programs such as Birds of Prey presented by the Northwoods Wildlife Center. In addition, members volunteered their time and participated in community events like Earth Day, Loon Day, and Trunk or Treat.
To become a member, visit the Mercer Public Library or donate online at MercerPublicLibray.org/friends. Join the Friends for monthly meetings on the second Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the library. New volunteers are always welcome.
