2026 Artist in Residence applications open!

Mercer, WI – The Mercer Public Library is now accepting applications for 2026 Artists in Residence. Applications are due Sunday, November 30 at 5:00pm CST.

The Mercer Public Library Artist in Residence program is designed to promote local artists and creators, provide engaging exhibits for library visitors, and provide more art and creativity programming for adults and children at the library. The program is sponsored by the Friends of the Mercer Public Library.

Beginning in September 2023, the Artist in Residence program has proudly hosted 8 local artists including painters, illustrators, photographers, and more. The program provides an opportunity to highlight the work of local artists, display the artist’s work at the Library, and offer art and creative programming for all ages.

Artists who are selected for 2026 will receive a $1000 stipend and the opportunity to exhibit at the library for one three-month term. Artists in Residence will also engage with the community through art instruction workshops, receptions, and more.

The program is open to all artists and creators, professional and amateur. Preference will be given to artists from northern Wisconsin and the surrounding region working in a 2D or 3D medium such as painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, collage, digital art, book arts, ceramics, fabric or fiber arts, etc. Mixed media and interdisciplinary artists are welcome to apply.
