2024 Library Passport program

The Northern Waters Library Network invites visitors and residents to take a tour of the area's public libraries for a chance to win a prize! What’s not to love about northern Wisconsin? We’re home to the Musky Capital of the World (Boulder Junction), the world’s largest musky and walleye fish hatchery (Spooner), and the birthplace of the wearable Smokey Bear costume (Mercer)! While you’re exploring northern Wisconsin this spring and summer, make sure to include public libraries on your travel itinerary for a chance to win a prize! Launching in early April, the Northern Waters Library Network (NWLN) Library Passport program invites you to stop in at any Northern Waters library and pick up a passport. Bring your passport with you as you travel throughout northern Wisconsin this spring and summer and get a stamp at each library you visit. Collect 10 different stamps and you’ll receive an entry form for a prize drawing, giving you a chance to win one of four Kwik Trip gas cards totaling $500! The passports contain a variety of “fun facts” about each NWLN library, including library and community attractions. Swing by the Winchester Public Library and say “hello” to their library cat, Gus. 2024 Summer Reading Program

Set a goal to keep reading this summer! We invite readers ages 0 to 14 to embark on a journey filled with books, activities, and events designed to inspire a love of reading and exploration. “Adventure Begins at Your Library!” Whether you want to challenge yourself to read more or start a new reading habit, you're in charge of deciding what your goal is! Set your own goal for the number of minutes you’ll read or the number of books you’ll finish between June 10 and August 16. Log your reading: Stop into the Library to pick up a reading log or download one from our website at mercerpubliclibrary.org. Record the date, the title of the book, and the number of minutes you read if you’re tracking minutes. Turn in your reading log by August 17 to be entered into the grand prize drawing. If you reach your reading goal, you’ll earn a second entry into the drawing! Visit the library to pick up a reading log, or download one here: Reading Log by Books Read | Reading Log by Minutes Read All prizes must be picked up in person. There’s no cost to join our summer reading program, and […]

Tie-Dye party – MOVED TO 2PM!

Note the time change: Our tie-dye party has been moved to 2pm to avoid the rain forecast in the morning. Everyone ages 1 to 100 is welcome to our annual library tie-dye party! Drop in for a free, hands-on tie-dye activity at the library on Tuesday, July 2 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. We'll provide everything you need including t-shirts (while supplies last), dyes, and other supplies. You'll leave with your shirt dyed and wrapped in plastic, waiting to be washed later to reveal its colorful patterns. You may bring your own 100% natural fiber items (cotton, silk, linen, etc.) to dye if you wish. Wear old clothes, since the dyes we use are permanent! This program is free and open to everyone. Donations for t-shirts will be gratefully accepted. For more information, call the library at 715-476-2366. The Mercer Library’s 2024 summer reading series is made possible by sponsorship from the Friends of the Mercer Public Library. Thank you!
