Home Improvement Contracts under Wisconsin Law
April 22 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pmFree
The Wisconsin Bureau of Consumer Protection will present information on Home improvement practices and contracts under Wisconsin law in a free online program, April 22 at 2:00 p.m.
Wisconsin residents sign home improvement contracts everyday to make improvements to their homes and property. Before you sign a contract, you should understand the consumer protection laws that are in place to protect you. In this presentation you will learn about hiring a contractor, contractor requirements, and required contract provisions. Home improvement resources will be available to all attendees.
This program will be presented by Jeff Kersten, Agency Liaison for the Bureau of Consumer Protection within the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. Jeff travels around the state to educate the public, businesses and law enforcement on privacy protection, data security, identity theft, and other areas of consumer protection. Jeff has over 12 years of experience as a police officer and is a prior Consumer Protection Investigator for the Bureau of Consumer Protection. As Wisconsin’s lead agency for consumer protection, the Bureau of Consumer Protection provides information and education, mediates complaints, investigates cases, and takes enforcement actions to fight fraudulent and deceptive practices that harm consumers and honest businesses.
This program is free and open to everyone. For more information, call the Mercer Library at 715-476-2366.
