Extending the Garden Season with Darrin Kimbler
May 8 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pmFree
The Mercer Library will host UW-Extension horticulture and agriculture educator Darrin Kimbler for a program on “Extending the Garden Season” on Wednesday, May 8 at 12:30 p.m.
All Northwoods gardeners know the frustrations of northern Wisconsin’s short growing season. Kimbler will share tips for making the most of the season using techniques like succession planting, deadheading and other plant care, and more. He’ll share useful information for both vegetable and flower gardeners.
Kimbler has worked with the Iron County UW-Extension for over three years as Horticulture and Agriculture Educator. He holds a degree in biology and forestry from University of Wisconsin-Madison, and he and his wife raise sheep, pigs, produce, and wine grapes at their Ironwood farm, Taiga Farm and Vineyards.
This program is also sponsored by the Mercer Seed Library. The Seed Library provides FREE garden seeds for Mercer-area growers, encourages seed saving to promote varieties suited to the Northwoods climate, and sponsors information programs for gardeners.
This program is free and open to all, and no registration is required. For more information on this program or the Mercer Seed Library, call the Mercer Library at 715-476-2366 or visit www.mercerpubliclibrary.org.
