BadgerTalk : The UW-Madison Archives and the Vietnam Era
November 13 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pmFree
The Mercer Public Library will host University of Wisconsin oral historian Troy Reeves for a presentation on “The UW Archives and the Vietnam Era” on Wednesday, November 13 at 6:30 p.m.
The late 1960s and early 1970s stand out as a tumultuous and historic time, not only in the U.S. but also on UW-Madison’s campus. Using a small portion of the University Archives’ written, image, and audio collection, Reeves will tell the story of those turbulent years on campus. Since Reeves serves as UW-Madison’s oral historian, he will focus his presentation on audio excerpts and transcripts, making this story come primarily from the people—administrators, faculty, staff, and students—who lived it.
Troy Reeves heads the oral history program at the UW–Madison Archives and has directed oral history programs since 1999. He also serves as the managing editor of the Oral History Review and is on the board of the Wisconsin Humanities Council.
This program is sponsored by University of Wisconsin-Madison’s “BadgerTalks,” a program that spreads the Wisconsin Idea across the state by engaging Wisconsin residents on topics they care about and shares the latest discoveries of UW faculty, staff, and graduate students. The event is free and open to the community. For more information, call the library at 715-476-2366 or visit www.mercerpubliclibrary.org.
